BARCIOWISKO 2015
Augustów Forest District in cooperation with State Forests Information Centre and Culural Institutions of Augustów have organized the second edition of BARCIOWISKO.
On 11 July, 2015, Augusów Forest District organized 2nd edition of Barciowisko "Traditional beekeeping: rescue of wild bees in the woods". 11 two-man teams, including 2 foreign teams, took part in the competition for the best beehive log – National Park Szulgan-Tasz Bashkiria Russia with Ilfat Aminef and Sabit Galin as the team members, and the team from Great Britain, Bee The Change Foundation, Bristol England. 9 remaining teams are Polish teams, including: Augustów Forest District, Knyszyn Forest District, Maskulińskie Forest District, Bartnictwo Borów Stobrawskich (Bory Stobrawskie Beekeeping) Group with four-man crew, Pszczelarstwo Amatorskie (Amateur Beekeeping) Group, and "Wolne Pszczoły ("Free bees") Association together with Bractwo Bartne, as well as the crew of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
After 3 hour rivalry, despite unfavorable weather conditions, the winners were chosen:
1st place – the team of National Park Szulgan-Tasz from Bashkiria
2nd place – the team of Augustów Forest District
3rd place – the team of Knyszyn Forest District
4th place (ex aequo) – remaining teams
All participants received a commemorative photo albums and complete sets of beehive tools. Three winning teams were also handed decorative honey containers.
During Barciowisko, there were also held the arts educational activities. A large crew of youngsters was colouring, painting and cutting out decorations connected with traditional beekeeping. Simultaneously, a contest for the best tincture was held, which won Mrs. Teresa Milanowska, and a contest for the tastiest honey, won by Mr. and Mrs. Judycki.
