V BARCIOWISKO EDITION

The event was organized on July 7, 2018 by the Augustów Forest Inspectorate in cooperation with the Brotherhood of Bartne. Wojciech Szostak, the forester who welcomed all guests, started the event. Next, the rules of the competition and the course of the competition were discussed. After the official presentation of the teams and the drawing of bartending logs, participants at 10 started struggling.
Knitting is one of the elements of a bee rescue program run by foresters. Practical execution of barten logs was organized as a competition for the best log. 9 teams from Poland and abroad took part this year. Each team received tools for knitting logs and during work they could use the parameters of the bartnage show model. In addition, this year our participants could count on the help of our most experienced "beekeepers".
Another point of the event was a contest for climbing a tree using a leiwa, which was organized by the Brotherhood of Bartne. The struggles of the bartering teams making the logs were evaluated by a jury composed of:
- Wojciech Szostak, Forestry Superintendent of Augustów,
- Piotr Piłasiewicz, Bartne Brotherhood,
- Adam Kolator, Augustów Forest District
- Adam Korzeniecki, Augustów Forest District
This year the level was very high, in most cases the logs made by the participants could be immediately displayed in the forest. In the competition for the most faithful representation of barton logs, the first place went ex aequo to the team from abroad and the team from the Brotherhood of Bartne. The remaining teams took second places.
As every year, the children were also taken care of - an educational stand with games and art workshops was set up. Both the older and the youngest tried their strength in our natural "Wheel of Fortune". Each participant of the games received small gifts.
The competition in knitting of bartending logs was not the only attraction of this event. The tasting and the opportunity to buy honey from local beekeepers and the opportunity to learn about the blacksmith craft that is now disappearing were willing to wait.
